I second that. It confused me a lot too. Should have been "Study group analyzed" or something.

I don't agree with the explanation. For the additional observations the statement has "within a month" mentioned - which one month is it talking about when they are unable to reproduce sounds?

I think this is a poor-quality question and the explanation isn't clear enough, please elaborate.

Thank you for the explanation.
Would it decrease
[the validity of the hypothesis that there is a possible link between linguistic sound reproduction and an ability to walk developing within a month of demonstrating an ability to reproduce sounds]
if
[the proportion of toddlers not able to reproduce sounds in the study who were also observed walking independently within a month] is high? abhimahna

Official Solution:
TetyanaRokobit

Scientist: Recent studies regarding ambulation in toddlers have led researchers to hypothesize about a possible link between linguistic sound reproduction and an ability to walk developing within a month of demonstrating an ability to reproduce sounds, as nearly 70% of toddlers in the study who were able to reproduce sounds under consistent stimuli were observed walking independently within a month.

In the table, select for sample size a different group of toddlers within the study and for additional observation an analysis about this group that when combined would most help to evaluate the validity of the scientific hypothesis. Make only two selections, one in each column.

Sample sizeAdditional observation
Exact number of children in the study
Toddlers not able to reproduce sounds in the study
Toddlers able to reproduce sounds in the study
Percent observed walking independently within a month
Percent observed reproducing sounds in the study
Number dismissed from the study

The proportion of toddlers not able to reproduce sounds in the study who were also observed walking independently within a month, would provide additional evidence helpful in evaluating the validity of the hypothesis in the prompt that there is a possible link between linguistic sound reproduction and an ability to walk developing within a month of demonstrating an ability to reproduce sounds.

Correct answer:
Sample size: Toddlers not able to reproduce sounds in the study
Additional observation: Percent observed walking independently within a month
