In a school, every student who scores above 90% in the final exam receives a Merit certificate. Last year, exactly 9% of the students received a Merit certificate.
In the table, select for Students with Merit certificates a value representing the number of students who could have scored above 90% last year, and select for Total students a value representing the total number of students in the school that would be jointly consistent with the given information. Its an easy question, just requires you to do do basic % calculation
3 small nos. are given: 90,108, 120 (any of them being Merit students)
3 big nos. are given: 1080, 1200, 10800 (any of them being Total students)
Approach 1: If u start by small nos.- do division i.e. 90/9%= 1000 (wrong as no option found) OR 108/9%= 1200 (correct) OR 120/9%= 1333.33 (wrong)
Approach 2: Alternatively, if u start by big nos.- do multiplication i.e. 1080 x 9%= 97.2 (wrong as no option found) OR 1200 x9%= 108 (correct) OR 10800 x 9%= 972 (wrong)
In any case, pair of 108 & 1200 is correct.
