Hi,

how would i know if statement 3 is asking about Q4'24 or Q4'25?

Q4'24 you can calculate but Q4'25 you can't.

I went with Q4'25 and marked "False".

Only thing that may indicate towards Q4'24 is "The Q4 sales of the East region were higher than those of the West region".

I am confused because if saw this question in 2028 and was solving it, i wouldn't be able to bifurcate between Q4'24 and Q4'25 as both of them will come in past.

is it correct or i misunderstood/overthink something altogether?

thanks

The table below shows the Q1 2025 sales performance of four regions. The data includes total sales in thousands of dollars, the number of stores in each region, and the percentage increase in sales compared to the previous quarter (Q4 2024).

RegionQ1 sales (in $k)Number of StoresIncrease from Q4 (%)
North150105
South2001213
East180811
West17097

For each of the following statements, select True if the statement can be verified as true based on the information provided. Otherwise, select False.

TrueFalse
The South region had the highest total Q1 sales and the highest percentage increase from Q4.
The average number of stores across all regions is exactly 10.
The Q4 sales of the East region were higher than those of the West region.

The South region had the highest total Q1 sales and the highest percentage increase from Q4.

• South has the highest Q1 sales (200) and the highest percentage increase from Q4 (13%). The statement is True.

The average number of stores across all regions is exactly 10.

• The number of stores across all regions is 10 + 12 + 8 + 9 = 39. Thus, the average is 39/4 = 9.75, which is not exactly 10. The statement is False.

The Q4 sales of the East region were higher than those of the West region.

• To find Q4 sales, divide Q1 sales by (1 + percentage increase).

East: 180/1.11 ≈ 162

West: 170/1.07 ≈ 159

Since 162 > 159, East had higher Q4 sales than West. The statement is True.

Correct answer:

The South region had the highest total Q1 sales and the highest percentage increase from Q4. "True"

The average number of stores across all regions is exactly 10. "False"

The Q4 sales of the East region were higher than those of the West region. "True"
You're overthinking it a bit.

The key is in the table heading: “Q1 2025 sales performance... and the percentage increase compared to the previous quarter (Q4 2024).”

So when a statement says "The Q4 sales of the East region were higher than those of the West region," it is referring to Q4 2024, not Q4 2025.

Still tightened the wording to avoid such confusion. Thank you!
