Hello everyone,
I am currently in process of applying to mba programs. I have written GMAT twice and got numerically identical score (650) both times, but the breakdown is different as given below:
1st attempt --> Q44/V35/AWA5.5
2nd attempt --> Q43/V36/AWA6.0
My question to you is that for my initial application, should I report my 1st or the 2nd result? I ask this because the 2nd results show a stronger AWA score, albeit a lower Quant score. I have been told that some schools place a great deal of value on that AWA score. Does anyone have a sense of business school's perspective on this ? Currently I am thinking of applying to IE and IESE, if that helps.

I have always heard the exact opposite... that schools tend to focus the most on your quant score and that the AWA score is usually good enough as long as it's above 4.0.

Yes, go with the higher quant score (first attempt). The AWA score is more of a hygiene factor and will not make a huge difference between being 5.5 and 6.0
