Hi All,

I read somewhere (don't recall where) that idioms are no longer important in SC. Is this true? Do they still need to be memorized? and to what extent, if so? I currently have the MGMAT guides and I'm reading through them. There's a lot of idioms. I'm just trying to figure out whether I should skip them.

Thanks in advance.

In a revised position, GMAC stated that it is very unlikely that an option would be incorrect due to incorrect idiomatic usage alone. So, while the usage of idioms has not been dis-continued, one can bank on spotting other errors in an option.

In view of this revised position of GMAC, while memorizing hundreds of idioms is now an over-kill, it still makes sense to memorize the most prominently tested idioms, since they can prove to be handy in eliminating few incorrect options.

p.s. Our book EducationAisle Sentence Correction Nirvana discusses most prominently used Idioms, their application and examples. If someone is interested, PM me your email-id; I can mail the corresponding section.
