Statement 1:
The least common denominator of a/b and 1/5 is 10
Least common denominator (not to be confused with LCM i.e. least common multiple) of a/b and 1/5 is 10 implies that b is a multiple of 10.
so that a fraction can be written as 2/10, 4/20 and so on based on the value of b (to have a common denominator).
Hence INSUFFICIENT.
Statement 2 :
It says b=2.
But we already know that a is a positive integer (0<a and a is an integer) and a/b < 1. So a has to be 1.
SUFFICIENT.
Hence B.

If 0 < a/b < 1 and 0 < a, what is the value of integer a?

(2) b = 2
1) can be converted to the least common multiple of 5 and b=10. B has to contain a 2 and could contain a 5.
This means that integer a can either be 1(b=2) or 1 to 9(b=10).
Insufficient.
2)
B=2.
A is an integer. A/b is larger than 0(a can thus not be smaller than 0) and a/b is less than 1(a can not be larger than 2)
Only 1 fulfills this inequality.
B should be correct.
(I fell for the usual c trap after finding out that b is 2 or 10.)
