Let us work on the minimum and maximum values..
1) minimum value of x-|y|
As |y| is always positive, -|y| will be minimum when |y| is maximum, so we are looking for maximum numeric value of y..
Thus y is 10 and X will be the minimum value which is -12..
So x-|y|=-12-|10|=-22...
2) Now maximum value of x-|y|
So we will look for minimum value of |y|, which will be 0..
Max value of x is 1..
So x-|y|=1-0=1

Sum of the minimum and maximum value is -22+1=-21..
