Solution

Given:
• 20% of x = 5y
• y = 7

To find:
• The value of 60% of x = $$\frac{60}{100} * x = \frac{3x}{5}$$

Approach and Working:
As y = 7, 5y = 5 * 7 = 35

So, we can write:
• 20% of x = 35
Or, $$\frac{x}{5} = 35$$
Or, $$\frac{3x}{5} = 35 * 3 = 105$$

Hence, the correct answer is option A.

20% of x = 5y
20/100 of x = 35................................y=7
(1/5)x = 35
x = 35*5

we are asked to find out 60% of x.

(35*5)*60/100
=105

Thus the best answer is A.

Short-cut:

(35/20)*60
=105

Since 20 percent of x is 5y and y = 7, we have:

0.2x = 5(7)

0.2x = 35

x = 175

So 60% of 175 is 0.6 x 175 = 105.

$$20$$ % = $$\frac{1}{5}$$

So, $$\frac{x}{5} = 5*7$$

Or, $$x = 25*7$$

So, 60 % of x = 105, Answer must be (A)
