As per the question !!

x-5=4+y

z=x+5 -y
z=x+5-(x-9)
z=14

We can create the equation:

x - 5 = 4 + y

x = 9 + y

Thus, a number that is 5 greater than x is 14 + y; if we reduce that number by y, we are left with 14.

Answer: C
