a*b = 12
(a,b) can be (12,1) (1,12) (2,6) (6,2) (3,4) (4,3) but none of these works. I is out.

a*b = 24
(a,b) = (24,1) (2,12) (3,8) (4,6) (6,4) (8,3) (12,2) (24,1) but none of these works. II is out.

a*b = 36
(a,b) = (36,1) (2,18) (3,12) (4,9) (6,6) (9,4) (12,3) (18,2) (36,1). (6,6) works. III is the answer.

4/6=2/3 means 2 is remainder, and 6/4 = 1(2/4) where again 2 is remainder. Am I right??? Totally agree with 3rd one

Well, I couldnt understand what are we calculating.... why the remainders are being considered in first place...

question says if a/b = b/a, then what is a*b.... since a and b are inegers and all the three given choices are positives, a should be equal to b.

so a*b will be a perfect square... hence answer is only 36

12: possibilities:
3,4 --> 3/4 4/3 Dif R's

2,6 --> 6/2 2/6 Dif R's

12,1 dif R's


24:
3,8
4,6
2,12
1,24 ALL dif. R's

This was tough one ( considering it needs to be done within time ). I could just guess some numbers and come up with the conclusion that 6X6 is the only possibility.

What is the theory or fundamental behind it?

Can anyone explain?
