(1) a*b = 1

(2) a + b = 2

Are You Up For the Challenge: 700 Level Questions

#1
a*b = 1
a & b can be either both + or - 1
a-b=0 in both cases

sufficient

#2
a+b=2
2+0 ; 1+1
insufficient

IMO A

Statement 1 - a*b = 1..

Possibly 1- both a and b are positive (+1)
a-b => 1-1 = 0

Possibility 2 - both a and b are negative (-1)
a-b = -1 -(-1) = -1+1 => 0

In either case, we get a-b = 0, sufficient

Statement 2- a+b = 2

a = 0, b= 2.. a-b = -2
a = 1, b= 1.. a-b = 0.

Two different answers, not sufficient..

A.
