If a, b, and x are integers greater than zero, then which of the following must be greater than a/(a + b) ?

A. (a + x)/(a + b + x)

B. (a - x)/(a + b + x)

C. 2a/(2a + 2b + x)

D. (a/(a + b))^2

E. (a - 1)/(a + b - 1)

let a= 1,b=2 x=3
a/(a + b) = 1/3
negate b & e since -ve options
left with a,c,d
option a; 2/3 >1/3
sufficient

Not sure if my reasoning is correct but here's how I eliminated answer choices B, D and E

B. (a - x)/(a + b + x) - The numerator decreases while the denominator increases. It was easier to think that x could be greater than a, which gives a negative number in the numerator. Therefore, less than a/(a + b).

D. Squaring a fraction makes it smaller.

E. Same reasoning as B. Take a=0, the result would be 0. Less than a/(a + b)
