C. 175

D. 135

E. It is impossible to tell from the information given.

Given,

a + c + e - b - d = 875

a + c + e - ( b + d) = 875

a + c + e - 200 = 875

a + c + e = 1075

and b + d =200.

$$\frac{a + b + c + d + e}{5}$$

= $$\frac{1075 + 200}{5}$$

= 255

a − b + c − d + e = 875
= (a+c+e) - (b +d)= 875
---> a+c+e = 1075
----> a+c+e+b+d = 1075 +200 = 1275

E. It is impossible to tell from the information given.

Given,

a + c + e - b - d = 875

a + c + e - ( b + d) = 875

a + c + e - 200 = 875

a + c + e = 675.

and b + d =200.

$$\frac{a + b + c + d + e}{5}$$

= $$\frac{675 + 200}{5}$$

= 175.

i think u have incorrectly subtracted 200,it needs to be added

Solution

Given:
• a – b + c – d + e = 875
• b + d = 200

To find:
• The mean of {a, b, c, d, e} = $$\frac{(a + b + c + d + e)}{5}$$

Approach and Working:
• a + c + e – (b + d) = 875
o This implies, a + c + e = 875 + 200 = 1075

• Thus, a + b + c + d + e = 1075 + 200 = 1275
• Therefore, mean = $$\frac{1275}{5} = 255$$

Hence, the correct answer is Option A
