(2) (a+b)^2 = 36

6, second one gives u either 6 or -6
first equation, (a^2 - b^2) could be written as (a+b) (a-b)

I will go with A.
Statement 1 can be rewritten as (a+b) (a-b)/(a-b) =6
From Statement 2 a+b can be +or -6

a b => a-b 0

S1 - Cancel out (a-b) to get a+b = 6 => Suff

S2 - a+b can be 6 or -6 => insuff

Answer is A
