Let us assume Brianna took 100 dollars into the casino.

=> Triples her money at blackjack: 3 * 100 = 300

=> Leaves a ten-dollar tip: 300 - 10 = 290

=> 290 = 100 + 190 (roulette)

=> So, she took $100 with her at the casino.

If Brianna triples her money at blackjack and then leaves a ten-dollar tip for the dealer, she will leave the casino with the same amount of money as if she had won 190 dollars at roulette. How much money did Brianna take into the casino?

Let the initial money before entering the casino = x

Brianna triples her money = 3x
then leaves a ten-dollar tip for the dealer= 3x-10
if she had won 190 dollars at roulette= x+190
she will leave the casino with the same amount of money as----> 3x-10=x+190---->2x=200--->x=100

A. 90
B. 100
C. 190
D. 200
E. 210

let the initial money be x.
She triples her money to 3x in blackjack - 10$ tip.

Now, she leaves with same amount of money as if she had won 190 dollars at roulette, ie, initial money + 190 , x+190.

Equate both, 3x - 10 = x + 190 , x = 100.

3x - 10 = x + 190
2x = 200
x = 100

B is correct.

Wouldn’t she have to use some money to play the roulette? :)
Does the roulette player get their participation fee back?
