If cement, gravel and sand are to be mixed in 7:10:13 and 8 tons of cement is available how many tons of mixture can be produced assuming that sufficient gravel and sand is readily available.

A. 35 7/8
B. 36
C. 34 2/7
D. 34 5/7
E. 34 6/7

We have the ratio of cement : gravel : sand = 7x : 10x : 13x, for a total of 30x.

Since 8 tons of cement is available we have:

8 = 7x

8/7 = x

So the total mixture that can be produced is 30 * 8/7 = 240/7 = 34 2/7.

Answer: C
