If digit p is thousandths digit of A = 7.23p6. What is the value of p?

(1) when A is rounded to hundredths digit, the hundredths digit of A is 4
(2) p is a prime number.

Solution-
Statement (1) gives me 6,7,8,9 as a value
Statement (2) give me 7 aa the only value out of statement one as 7 is the only prime number.
For me the ans should be C as i got 7 as the ans.

Am i missing out on something?

You are missing on 5.. Since if you need to include 5 hence after combining both a and b there will be two options 5 and 7

(1) When A is rounded to nearest hundredth, Value of P could be 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. [Insuff]

(2) P could be 2, 3, 5, 7.......[Insuff]

(1) & (2)

P still could be 5 and 7. [Insuff]

Answer: E.

Hi,

Answer should be E.

Question: A = 7.23p6. Value of p ?

Since “p” is a digit value, so it can be anything from value 0-9.

Statement I is insufficient:

When A is rounded to hundredths digit, the hundredths digit of A is 4

According to the rules of rounding of a number, If the number you are rounding is followed by 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9, round the number up. So, “p” could be 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9.

So insufficient.

Statement II is insufficient:

“p” is a prime number.

Single digit prime numbers are 2,3,5 and 7

So insufficient.

Together it is insufficient.

"p" could still be 5 or 7.

So it is insufficient.

So the answer is E.
