in rough terms the answer would be -- 3*(12/16)*(300/500) hrs = 27/20 hrs = 27/20*60 mins = 81 mins

answer would be C

The rate of 12 works is 500boxes/3hours or 500boxes/180minutes: thus 12x (x being the rate of the individual worker) = 500/180 Solve for X and you get 25/108

Now just multiply x by 16. 16(25)/108. 400/108 is the rate of 16 workers.

Now to find the time its just distance over the rate so... 300/(400/108) which is now just 81.

Hope that helps a little more.

Original work:
12x=500/180 rate of individual is 50/18 --> 25/9*12 25/108

Now 16*25/108 --> 400/108

300/(400/108) 324/4 = 81.

I was confused with this as well. I saw the OA was C so I then reworked it. the sentence should say

If it takes 12 workers 3 hours to make 500 boxes.... etc...
