If M is a set of consecutive even integers, is 0 in set M ?

(1) −6 is in set M. - Set can be [ -6, -4] or [-6,-4,-2,0,2] - NS
(2) −2 is in set M. - Set can be [ -2,0,2] or [ -6,-4,-2] - NS

M is a set of consecutive EVEN integers.

we are asked to determine whether 0 is in the set M.

Statement 1:

-6 is in the set.

may be -6 is the the highest integer of set M. NOT integer.

Statement 2:

-2 is in the set. The same as statement 1.

Combining both statements:

if we consider -2 us the highest integer of the set and -6 also falls in the set automatically. So, 0 may be or may not be the part of set M.

The best answer is E.
