If machine X ran continuously at a uniform rate to fill a production order, at what time did the machine finish filling the order?
(1) Machine X began filling the order at 7:30 a.m. and had filled 3/4 of the order by 9:30 a.m.

Note we need to know two things, the rate of the machine is not enough as we also want an index to judge when the order will finish (when it started, or when it filled one half etc).
Statement 1:
We have both things mentioned above so sufficient.
Statement 2:
While we do know the rate, we are missing an index. Insufficient.

From the question stem we know we are looking for time (t):
t = time
X = rate
w = work
w = xT
===> We need to know 2 out of the 3 variables to solve for T
(1) Machine X began filling the order at 7:30 a.m. and had filled 3/4 of the order by 9:30 a.m.
We know:
t = 2 (9:30 - 7:30 = 2 hours)
w =3/4 (3/4 of the work is done)
===> 3/4 = X * 2
X = 3/8
1 = 3/8 t
t = 8/3 (hours)
Sufficient
(2) Machine X spent 40 minutes filling the last 1/4 of the order.
w = 1/4 * w (1/4 of the work is done)
t = 40 (minutes)
(1/4 * w) = X 40
We have 2 variables here (X and w)
