above is 104 grams.
(2) The combined weight of oil and water mixed in the ratio 3 : 2 in the same beaker as
above is 100 grams.

Let the weight of oil be o grams/lit
Let the weight of water be w grams/lit
Let the weight of the beaker be b grams.
Let the total capacity of the beaker be C lit.

To find : (w-o)/o * 100

Given : oil = c/2 lit water = c/2 lit
Total weight = o*c/2 + w*c/2 + b
Oc/2 + wc/2 + b = 102 ------------ 1

Statement 1: oil = 2c/5 water 3c/5
2oc/5 + 3wc/5 + b = 104 -------------2

Subtract equations 1 and 2
-oc/10 + wc/10 = 2
Wc – oc = 20

We don’t get the answer

Statement 2 : oil = 3c/5 water = 2c/5
3oc/5 + 2wc/5 + b = 100 -------------- 3

Subtract equations 1 and 3
-oc/10 + wc/10 = 2
Wc – oc = 20

We don’t get the answer

Combine Statements 1 and 2:
We get the same equation from both the conditions
So, we don’t get the answer

The common mistake is that ppl intend to ignore the ratio; They just assume w+o =102; 2o+3w=100; This gives option D, But when you solve the equation this will lead to no conclusive answer

This seems to be a poor quality ques because the statements say combined weight of oil and water but I think they should have mentioned combined weight of oil, water and beaker

Hey, I rechecked from the original source and I've copied the question correctly. This ques is from Manhattan Arithmetic Guide 6th edition. I guess you're correct though as I too feel this is a poor quality ques and while solving this guide, I found too many printing mistakes so this might be one of those.
