But when we say 4 units from the origin, it means E can either be (0,4) or (0,-4), then in which case the distance could be different.

I think it has to be C

AE=3 or =sqrt 73

CE= 6 or 2

If A would be twice as far from E, it would have the same ength as CE, the only combination that works is CE=6 and AE=3
