Given: s and t are positive
Target question: Is s/t less than st?
In other words: Is s/t < st?
This is a great candidate for rephrasing the target question.
Since we're told that t is POSITIVE, we can multiply both sides of the inequality by t to get: Is s < st²?
Since we're told that s is POSITIVE, we can divide both sides of the inequality by s to get: Is 1 < t²?
REPHRASED target question: Is 1 < t²?
Aside: the video below has tips on rephrasing the target question
Statement 1: s² > 1
Since we have no information about t, there's no way to answer the REPHRASED target question with certainty
Statement 1 is NOT SUFFICIENT
Statement 2: t² > 1
Perfect!
The answer to the REPHRASED target question is YES, it's true that 1 < t²
Since we can answer the REPHRASED target question with certainty, statement 2 is SUFFICIENT
Answer: B
