From question stem we get x+y is positive. This implies that x can be positive and y can be negative or vice versa or both can be positive.
From st1 we get x>y which means x is always positive and y can be negative or positive but less than x. Hence sufficient
From st2 we get the question stem only. No additional info. Hence insufficient
