Solution

Given
In this question, we are given
• The diameter of a circular skating rink is 60 meters.

To Find
We need to determine
• The approximate value of the area of the rink, in square meters.

Approach & Working
As the diameter of the rink is 60 meters, the radius of the rink = 30 meters.
• Therefore, the area of the rink = π $$(30)^2$$ = 900π
• Assuming π = 3.1 (approximate), area = 900π = 900 * 3.1 = 2800 (approximate)

Hence, the correct answer is option D.

Since the radius is 30, the area is 900π, which is roughly 2,800.
