If the line segment with length x is parallel to the line segment with length 11, it will make the smaller triangle similar to the bigger triangle.
From the properties of similar triangles we know that the ratio of sides of the two triangles is the same for any pair of corresponding sides.
Therefore, \(\frac{x}{11} = \frac{2}{2+8}\)
\(\frac{x}{11} = \frac{2}{10} = \frac{1}{5}\)
\(x=\frac{11}{5}\)
