Arranging set A in ascending order = {4,7,10,18}
Median = (7+10)/2 = 8.5

Median of B = 8.5 + 4 = 12.5

Arranging Set B in ascending order (Let's keep x at the end for now) = {4,7,10,18,25,x)

The median can be 12.5 only when the number is somewhere between 10 and 18, so we re-arrange the set {4,7,10,x,18,25}

(10+x)/2 = 12.5

So, x = 15

Bunuel
A = {10, 4, 7, 18}

B = {x, 10, 4, 7, 18, 25}

If the median of list B is exactly 4 higher than the median of list A, what is the value of x?

A. 12.5
B. 15
C. 18
D. 24
E. 25

A = {4,7,10,18}
B = {4,7,10,18,25,x}

median of A is 8.5, median of B is 12.5
12.5 is after 10 and before 18
so x has to be after 10 and before 18
(10 + x)/2 = 12.5
x = 15
