{4, 6, 3, y} If the mode of the list of numbers above is 3, then what is the average (arithmetic mean) of the list?

A. 7
B. 3
C. 4
D. 9
E. 12

If the mode is 3, then we KNOW that y must be 3.
So, the 4 numbers in the list are {4, 6, 3, 3}

What is the average (arithmetic mean) of the list?
Average = (4+6+3+3)/4
= 16/4
= 4

Since 3 is the mode, y must be 3, and the average of the list is 16/4 = 4.
