If the ratio of cupcakes to cakes to peanut butter balls in a certain bakery is 3 to 1 to 7, how many peanut butter balls are in the bakery?

(1) The number of cupcakes plus the number of cakes is equal to 12.
(2) The number of cupcakes minus the number of cakes is equal to 6.

CC:C:PB is 3:1:7.
1. The addition of CC and C is 12 which represents 4 units. So each unit is 3. Sufficient.
2. The gap between CC and C is 6 which represents 2 units. So each unit is 3. Sufficient.

Hence D.

as we can see the total value of cupcakes and cake is given, because of which we are able to find the scale factor of cup cakes and cakes, how are we able to substitute this same in peanut butter when the total value of cupcakes + cake + Peanut butter is not given.
