statement 1 alone:
time (12 people) = time (5 people) - 7
since individual rate is the same : w/(12r) = w/(5r) - 7
so w/(5r) - w/(12r) = 7
ie w/r (1/5 - 1/12) = 7
then w/r = 60 ie it take 5 people w/(5r)=60/5=12 hours
statement 2 alone :
it takes 3 people 6 hours to complete a job
so w/(3r) = 6 so w/(5r)=18/5 hours
