Re: If x ≠ 0, what is the value of b when x = a(b + c) ? [#permalink]

A) \(c - \frac{a}{x}\)

B) \(\frac{x}{a} - c\)

C) \(ax – c\)

D) \(ax + c\)

E) \(x – ac\)

It's given that x=a(b+c)
x/a = b+c
(x/a) - c=b

So, b = (x/a)-c. Thus the best answer is B.

Re: If x ≠ 0, what is the value of b when x = a(b + c) ? [#permalink]
x = a(b+c)
as x is not zero so a can't be 0
b = x/a - c

Simplifying the equation, we have:

x = a(b + c)

x/a = b + c

x/a - c = b
