x = −5 and y = −2
3 * (x−y)^2 − x*y
3 * ( -5+2)^2 - (-5)*(-2)
3 * (-3)^2 - 10
3 * 9 - 10
27 - 10
17

Hence, C.

+1 for C

3*$$(-5-(-2))^2$$-(-5*-2)
3*$$(-3)^2$$-10=17

Given

x = -5
y = -2

$$3(x-y)^2 -xy$$

= $$3 ((-5) - (-2))^2 - (-5) (-2)$$

= $$3(-5 + 2)^2 - 10$$

= $$3( -3)^2 -10$$

= 27 - 10

= 17

If x = -5 and y = -2, what is the value of 3(x-y)^2 - xy ? &nbs [#permalink] 03 Aug 2018, 15:34
