I feel C is the answer.

Because as per statement-2 x and y are consecutive . So probabilities are ,either of x or y is zero or both are non zero.So Not sufficient(As Zero is neither -ve nor +ve)

But if we consider statement-1 also then possibilities are (-5,-4) or (-6,-5) either of which result is even.

So both together are sufficient.

Ans is B 0 is even, it satisfies all the criteria for the definition of even number.
0 is an even number: it is a multiple of 2, it is evenly divisible by 2

Yes u are right.Zero is even . I totally got carried away .Actually 0 is neither -ve nor positive. Instead I ended saying other way with respect even-odd. Sorry :(

Hence B is correct.

B for me

I: If X = -5 , y can be either another odd like 5 or an even like 2 which makes an odd or even product
II: If x and y are consecutive integers than there will always be an even number in the product i.e. 0,1 = 0 , 2,3 = 6 -5,-4 = 20

Hi All,

We're told that X and Y are INTEGERS. We're asked if (X)(Y) is ODD. This is a YES/NO question and can be solved with Number Properties and TESTing VALUES.

1) X = -5

With the information in Fact 1, we know the value of X (and that it's ODD). However, we don't know whether Y is odd or even.
IF...
X = -5, Y = 1 then (X)(Y) = -5 and the answer to the question is YES
X = -5, Y = 2 then (X)(Y) = -10 and the answer to the question is NO
Fact 1 is INSUFFICIENT

2) X and Y are CONSECUTIVE integers

By definition, a pair of consecutive integers will ALWAYS include 1 Odd number and 1 Even number, so the product will ALWAYS be (Odd)(Even) = Even and the answer to the question is ALWAYS NO.
Fact 2 is SUFFICIENT
