Statement 1:
Since x and y are integers, there is only possibility.
72 = 8*9 = 2^3 * 3^2
So x = 3 and y = 2.
We can find x+y = 3+2 = 5 =>Sufficient .

Statement 2 :
LHS : 2^x 2^y = 2^(x+y)
RHS : 32 = 2^5
2^(x+y) = 2^5
Hence x+y = 5. =>Sufficient .

Answer = D
