x and y both are negative thus D is the correct answer.

$$x^2$$*$$y^2$$ will always be positive or zero, as we have the constraint in the stem we can exclude 0 from the results, leaving only positive

both x& y are -ve so test with all options
IMO D stands out

We see that both x and y are negative; thus, x^2 * y^2 is always positive.
