we are asked to find out the ration of x/6 to y/7 which is equivalent to 7x/6y
1. 7x=6y
7x/6y=1
so, sufficient.
2. we only know the value of x. insufficient.

Clearly A.

Statement 1 is sufficient.

Statement 2 offers no information about y. Therefore, insufficient.

IMO A

We know xy ≠ 0, so it is OK to divide by either x or y.
What is x/6 : y/7

$$\frac{x}{6}*\frac{7}{y}$$ ... dividing by fraction is same as multiplying by it's reciprocal.
$$\frac{7x}{6y}$$

(1) $$7x = 6y = \frac{7x}{6y} = 1$$ Sufficient.

(2) x = 6 .. nothing about y is given. Not suff

Hence Option (A) is correct.

Best,
