Hello everyone,
I'm really worried about getting into my targets because of my profile (please see my post in the ask admissions consultants>peer review section if interested) so i really need to blow out the GMAT to have a chance.
.
The good thing is I'm just starting my job this winter so i have at least 2 years of work experience to go before i can apply.
So given ample amount of time, what would you do to really put forward your best effort to nail the GMAT?
Thanks!
This is what I would do:
Buy OG13 and do the diagnostic in a timed environment.
Your next step will depend on what the OG says about your current level. If you are already Excellent/Above average in most of the question types, you are golden. Go and party for the next 1.5 yrs and come back here after that. Don't forget to read on a daily basis but if you are already very good at RC/SC, chances are you are already an avid reader.
If the interpretation of your score isn't very good, you might want to start working on your basics, slowly but regularly. Start working on Math and English, not on Quant and Verbal. What I mean is, start working on basic Math concepts if they are missing. Start reading some good English books/magazines on a variety of topics little by little. Since you have two years, passive learning will make a significant difference. Don't push yourself. Make an easy schedule - say 5 hrs a week. Take an occasional week off.
Ensure that you 'understand' what you are doing and why you are doing it. Do not move forward until and unless it's clear in your mind. After about a year of passive prep, you can take the diagnostic again (don't dirty your book because you will need to revisit it). You wont remember any questions from before so it will still be useful. Thereafter, devise a suitable strategy.
