I have around 6 years of experience in IT . I have registered for the GMAT exam on the 26th of October , 2015. I have an average academic career with overall 75% marks . My question was what sort of GMAT score should i target to stand a reasonable chance of making it to IIM bangalore . Also i guess IIM bangalore asks for two references , what are these ? I mean who should i ask to refer me and how and what should they write .

Hi Subhayan,
Not sure about average GMAT of latest IIM-B Intake, but I do think score of 700+ is generally considered competitive. There is lot more than just GMAT Score that adcoms looks in to your application i.e. Essays, GPA, Interview, Work experience, recommendation letters, extra curriculars, etc.
As to choosing recommenders, I would suggest you to go through article no 25 and 26 of GMAT Club MBA guide (You can download it from here). These articles will give you detailed idea of how to choose recommenders and what should be written in recommendation letters.

Narenn has already provided some very useful advice and resources for further reference, so will not repeat anything there.
Looking at your profile in general, 75% marks consistently may not be an issue. For example, 75% marks in college would mean distinction, and that is certainly strong academic performance. 75% marks in Class X and XII may not be excellent performance, but then that is something that is now more than 10 years old, so will carry relatively lesser weight. Your work experience, leadership, responsibilities, and GMAT score will have much more value.
In terms of references, you need to ask people from work who are senior to you and have worked with you directly. What they will write is up to them, but you should meet with them and discuss the high points of your work and your objectives in applying in advance to help them.
