Luckily for us everyone heads north. I'm leaving about 4 or 5am tomorrow morning. Good luck to LSU, Icon, and Sarzan if you are staying. Make sure to fill your bathtub(s) full of water tomorrow so you don't run out of fresh water. You may need it if we don't have power for a week.

I am staying at riding out the storm. Right now the wind has picking up the speed. Haven't seen any rain yet. The bayou is raising. I don't know why I decide to stay, but I live right next to the bayou. Since my place is not a mandatory evacuation zone, I figured it should be ok. But I got all the supplies I needed. Will see what happens tomorrow.

brace yourself. I'm around Westheimer and Fountainview. Wind is picking up majorly. I'm glad I have an iPhone though. Best of luck and be safe. I'm mostly worried about flooding.

4 AM.
Pretty rough out there. No power since 11 PM. It's very wet but no apparent floods where I am. The bright light flashes are probably transformers. This is quite a slow moving beast. The eye will be over downtown in about an hour or two. Some lound bangs out there but no broken windows as of yet. I hope other Houston folks are okay.

Well I came out of the storm great I stayed in downtown Houston and never lost power. It's like we didn't even have a storm here at my building. I hope everyone else is ok, maybe we'll even get a day or two off next week!

My place is close to reliant stadium. We lost power around 2:00am this morning and just got it back. So it's about 14 hours. There is not much damage to my home. But I am not able to get out because the bayou has raised outside the bank and flooded all the streets surrounding it. Plus lots of trees fall off. Hopefully I will be able to get out on Monday. I only have food that's going to last me for two days, but I have plenty of water though.

I'm back home now. Nothing happened to my apartment. I have power.

I drove around Westheimer, just West of 610. It looked bad. Traffic lights on the streets. Store signs all over the place. A few accidents and fires. I also saw some homeless people walking around aimlessly.

If any of you guys need anything, please let me know. I have some extra supplies. Water, bread, food, etc. Don't hesitate.

Hope everyone is okay.

I guess those of us living in areas where there are no hurricanes can't really "understand" how it is out there when a hurricane falls.

We had a typhoon (Nuri) hit Hong Kong dead on earlier this summer. fortunately no serious damage. When I was in Tokyo, we used to get a typhoon or 2 every year.

Just wanted to give everyone an update. I'm doing just fine in New Orleans. Looks like we won't have work for a few days and I'm not sure how I'm going to get back to Houston with parts of I-10 under water. I'm going to try and head back tomorrow, but I'm not sure if that is possible or not. Hope everyone else is ok and my prayers are with you and your families in this time of need for Houston.
