That is a good question tennis ball and I would also be interested in hearing what others have done and what has worked well in the past for them. Although I won't be taking the test for several weeks I am trying to plan my last week of studying. My fear in taking a CAT right before my actual test is that I don't want to psyche myself out incase I do badly nor do I want to burn out? I dunno if this makes sense. My advise would be to take a test on Saturday and mid-week if you can and then review the test on Sunday and do some questions/review material. If after doing those tests you feel you need more practice then do the Sunday exam as well.

Hi,

Sorry I came back too late to this thread.

I was asking the planning for the last week, so I used the word "imagine". My exam will be at the beginning of December. ( I have not registered.)

The G day will be on Monday. I am concerned with whether I should do a simulated CAT on Sunday morning, the morning before the G Day. I am asking this because I have a series of CAT to do, so now I am planning when to start the first one. What is your opinion?

Matrix02 gave a very good explanation on why I should not on Sunday. Probably I should get a leave from work and do one in the middle of the week(Wed) and the last one on Saturday. Then I use Sunday to review the questions, materials and tips. What do you think?

Just a quick tip: consider setting G day for Tuestay, not Monday. This way, you can go hardcore on the preceding weekend (2 practice tests, some minor polishing etc), then give yourself a rest on Monday and kill the beast on Tuesday... Worked like a charm for me! I didn't mean it this way (test center just had no free places for Monday), but now I think it helped me a lot.

No. I would not do that unless I take leave on Monday.

One day's work is enough to knock out the momentum I build on the weekend.

hey,
i suggest to take practice tests several weeks apart - take one now, then study, then take one a couple of days before the test day, after you've done with your studying. that's what i did.
and yes, it's a good idea to leave a day or two to review your tests and textbook(s).
just make sure to get good long sleep before the test.
all the best :)

I have scheduled my exam that will be on Dec 5th. I also think it will be better to take it on Tuesday instead of Monday. :)

A wise decision! Yes, you do lose the momentum gained on weekend, but you lose the nervousness as well. The data gets organized in your head - the messy bunch of tips and formulae will transform into a clear picture of "how to kill the G". :)

You're the Samurai of GMAT; relax, clear up your mind, and let the toothpicks of tactics be forged into a sword of strategy. ;)

*bah, is there a GMAT poetry contest?*

You would score the highest if AWA were about poetic writing. :-D
But what a pity it isn't. :?
