Hi all,
I hope this message finds you well.
I am writing because I was completing my IMD application and discovered that they have changed the mandatory essay. The new essay question stem is the following: "Tell us your story. (Make sure you include specific examples that would be relevant to the application process). Minimum length is 300 words, and the maximum is 400."
This completely threw me off, as I had prepared for the one they had been using so far, which had some online tips, even from IMD, and was related to specific leadership challenges.
Does anyone know what they are looking for with this new one? Or have any tips on how to approach it? Or know of a webinar they have posted regarding the application tips but updated? (I have only found recommendations for past applications).
Thank you very much for your help!
Hi AlfonsPM13
B-Schools are often selective of people who have demonstrated personal and professional growth throughout their life experiences. They want to hear what specific events in your life have shaped your overall perspective and helped you develop into a well rounded person and professional.
This essay question should be approached with the same intention in mind. Think of it as looking back at the earliest time you can remember - probably in your schooling days and how you were, what choices you made and give specific anecdotes of how certain events shaped your overall development. Connect those dots onto later dots and then end with a convincing narrative on how you think your life experiences have made you ready for the world of business!
I hope this helps, if you need professional help with your applications do reach out to us!
