I really like this thread, but I feel like this belongs to Business School Life.
I think a nice watch is a must for a guy. You shouldn't look at your phone to find out your time. It sounds functional, but it just sounds less formal for few occasions. For example, I leave the phone in the car if I'm at a wedding or other formal events. I don't like having something in my pocket and I can find myself being rude by starring at my phone to check emails or do other things during the events.
I like the idea of a nice watch, although this also goes against my extreme tight budget before school. If you're going to buy something, just don't buy something trendy or crappy. You want something classic that will last you not just b-school, but for rest of your life if possible. This doesn't have to be expensive either.
