Hi guys!
I've been preparing for the GMAT for the past month and my exam date is 1 month away.
I have given a few mocks on Official GMAT and Veritas tests and consistently seen the same split between my Quant and Verbal scores :
Quant: 50/51
Verbal: 38/39 (lowest: 34) I would like to bring this up to 41-42.
I'm a native English speaker and have spent most of my time on Verbal:
RC: OG questions - I am usually better at RC questions, studied from MGMAT
CR: Used MGMAT, OG questions (decent on this one, though I do find it tricky at times once they are 700+ qs)
SC: This is the section I struggle with the most
I have tried all MGMAT questions, OG questions, GMATclub qs and noted down the rules/made flashcards for idioms but can't seem to get a hang of it on the actual exam.
I maintain an error log for all questions and try to revise the questions I got wrong.
Could you please advise:
- Should I be doing anything differently in my Verbal GMAT prep?
- Are there any resources you strongly recommend for SC?
- Are the Veritas tests harder than the other tests? especially for Verbal?

Thanks for reaching out on the forum, it feels good to see you coming out and asking for advice.
Before we delve into strategies to improve Quant and Verbal, let me point out that 650 is a very good score and you need fine tuning to turn it into 700+. A very important step to reach at that score is to:
Doing this will make your preparation focused on the target which is the most efficient way to study. A study plan would also help you estimate the amount of time you would need to study and thereby when to plan the test.
Looking at your scores, I can say that you need some improvement in Verbal. Majority of students falter in their GMAT exam because they start their preparation with OG.
This is a major mistake because if you start your preparation by solving OG questions, you are skipping to practicing questions without learning the concepts. This is a trial-and-error based preparation methodology which cause a two-fold problem:

Usually people focus on attempting new questions and not reviewing the attempted questions. Reviewing your mistakes is one of the greatest source of learning the concepts and understand why you made those mistakes.
Prawee (550 to 740) used all the books and local coaching classes but was unable to improve her GMAT score beyond a certain point. She changed her approach and finally scored 740 in her 5th attempt and got a $180,000 fellowship cumulatively from 3 top business schools. She is currently pursuing MBA from Kellogg. Kellogg was once not even on her radar.
