The Lorax is “a children’s book”; moreover, “advocates” must be parallel with “highlights”

Right. Modifier shouldn't be an issue. But first time I messed up with "advocates" (B) vs "advocates for" (E).

For those struggling as I did, here is a rule:

One can advocate something or one can be an advocate for something.
