Here, the rotten egg which picked randomly is not placed—> therefore,
(2/5)*(1/4)=2/20=1/10

The answer choice is B.

Total no of ways of selecting 2 eggs from 5 eggs is 5C2 which is 10. Out of these 10 combinations , only one will have both rotten eggs. So the probability of taking 2 rotten eggs will be 1/10.

Other way:

There are 5 eggs in total and 2 are rotten.

Probability that the first egg picked is rotten is 2/5

After picking the first egg, no. of eggs remaining is 4. and no. of rotten egg is 1.

Probability that the second egg picked is rotten is 1/4.

So the probability that both eggs are rotten
= 2/5 * 1/4
= 1/10

Probability of Getting 1st one as rotten is 2/5 and then for second one is 1/4. Multiply the two and you get 1/10
