All three schedule meetings for 9:00am and take no breaks between scheduled meetings for the remainder of the day. If none of the three will begin a meeting after 5:00pm, how many times including 9:00am will all three have a meeting beginning at the exact same time?

First Find the LCM of 15mins, 20mins, and 40mins which is 120mins

then we know the meetings will start at the same time every 2 hours

1st meeting is at 9am
2nd at 11am
3rd at 1pm
4th at 3pm
and because it says they wont start a meeting AFTER 5:00pm they will start their last (5th) meeting at 5pm

Answer is 5 (D)

We need to take the LCM of the three times (15, 20 and 40 mins). This is equal to 120 mins.

Therefore every 2 hours=> 9, 11, 1, 3 and 5

The LCM of 15, 20, and 40 is 120. Since 120 minutes = 2 hours, every 2 hours the three meetings occur at the same time. That is the three lawyers’ meetings occur at the same time at 9 am, 11 am, 1 pm, 3 pm and 5 pm, for a total of 5 times.

Answer: D
