In a certain office, some of the employees live 12 miles away from the office and the rest of the employees live 15 miles away from the office. If the average distance that each employee lives from the office is 13 miles, what is the ratio of employees who live 15 miles away to those who live 12 miles away ?

y% people live 12 miles far from the office
(x+y) = 1
So the equation is
13 = (x%) x 15 + (1-x%) x 12
Solve for x and then you get x = 1/3 so y = 1 - 1/3 = 2/3.
So the ration will be (1/3) / (2/3) = 1/2

So the equation is

No. of employees who live 15 miles away = y
Given,
(12x+15y)/(x+y) = 13
12x+15y = 13x+13y
2y = x
y/x = 1/2 (B)
Bunuel Shouldn't it be "what is the ratio of employees who live 15 miles away to those who live 12 miles away"?
