Since there are only 2 events : Being shorter than 1.7m and being taller than 1.7m
The number of girls shorter than 1.7m = 450 - 0.3*450 = 315
The number of boys shorter than 1.7m = 500 - 0.55*500 = 225
Total no. of students shorter than 1.7m = 315+225= 540
Total % of students shorter than 1.7m = (540/950)*100 = 56.8%
Hence approximately 57% Option C
