a. the slope of k is -1/6

st1)whenever slope of a line is negative it definitley cross Quad 2.
st2) y=-6 then if slope = - "YES", if slope= +. "May NOT"

IMO A

Hence 1) is SUFFICIENT
2) this does not help without knowing slope!!

Are there other rules like this? I hate these slope questions, I really don't know how to attack them

Slope is nothing but angle with x axis ,when its negative it means the angle is > 90 deg

hence the line must pass through 2nd quadrant initially i was confused whether the line will pass through 4th quad or 2nd but since there are no range of values of x and y on line it passes throgh both quads !!!

I hope this helps !!!Always imagine lines on graph for such questions !!this does help rather than values and solving !!!
