Project DS Butler: Day 22: Data Sufficiency (DS43)

For DS butler Questions Click Here

In a refinery, the capacity of oil tank A is 70 percent of the capacity of oil tank B. How many more gallons of oil are in tank A than in tank B?

1) Tank A is 90 percent full; tank B is 50 percent full
2) When full, tank A contains 50,000 gallons of oil

Statement 1:

We are able to express the current gallons in A in terms of B, hence we know the ratio of current A over the current B. Yet are missing a concrete value so insufficient.

Statement 2:

Insufficient.

Combined:

With the one value from statement 2, we are able to use the known ratios to find every value in this question. Sufficient.
